Five Activities That Should Not Be Done Alone
A couple years ago during one of the family road trips, we came up with a list of activities that would be strange/odd/weird/just plain sad to do alone. Don’t worry alcoholics, drinking alone is not on the list. You may continue to drink by yourself in peace. For those of you who who have done (or still do) one of the activities listed below, I suggest you find more friends. Real talk.
FONDUE RESTAURANT
In relation to one of my previous posts, fondue restaurants are not only for more than one person, but it’s a straight up date restaurant. I don’t ever remember seeing a table made for just one person. I agree there are some occasions when it is okay to go to a regular restaurant by yourself. For example, if you’re trying to grab a quick lunch or dinner with a book to read or some work you need to finish, that’s fine. Otherwise, save yourself the embarrassment and get something to-go.
COUPLES THERAPY
Picture somebody making an appointment for couples therapy and that person shows up with an imaginary friend. That made me laugh. I hope it made you laugh too.
CONCERTS
Jumping up and down screaming “Kaskade Rocks” with no friends by your side to confirm that Kaskade, does in fact, rock… sucks. Concerts are 10x more fun with friends and family who share the same love for music.
AMUSEMENT PARKS
The only time I attended an amusement park alone was not to enjoy the roller coaster rides, but it was because near the entrance to the park there was a beanie baby store with tons of limited edition beanie babies. And I bought some cotton candy on impulse.
If you’re going to an amusement park by yourself, that means you’re waiting in line alone, riding the carousel alone, and getting your caricature alone. That’s depressing.
NIGHTCLUBS
There’s just something oddly disturbing about going to a nightclub by yourself. In the event that all your friends bailed and you don’t want to let the night go to waste, play it off by dancing the night away as though nobody is watching you. There’s too many wall flowers in the club already.
